Mosquitos love overgrown grass, trees and brushes because of the shade it provides them. Make sure to eliminate the shade as much as possible. The more sunlight gets into your yard, the less wet areas will be available for mosquitos to make their own.

Mosquitos love standing water, using it as a breeding ground. The simplest way to fight mosquitos is to inspect your yard for pools of water. Look at your kids’ toys, garbage cans, plant trays, pools, etc. Bear in mind that a swimming pool contains chlorine, which repels mosquitos.

Side Note – Do not use bug zapper lights, as they don’t help reduce mosquitos in your area and can kill insects that help the environment.

There are several types of plants that naturally repel mosquitos and should definitely be included in your yard. The most common type of plant is citronella, which is a clump of grass that produces a strong smell that covers other smells that bugs love. You can also use geraniums, pennyroyal and marigolds to repel mosquitos.
